Measures for First Time Buyers in Queen's Speech

Today's Queen's Speech has outlined the Government's agenda in relation to housing in England, incuding a consultation to offer local first time buyers and 'key workers' a third off new homes.

The speech contained reference to ending unfair practices in leasehold but did not outline any plans to reform stamp duty. The Government has committed to build a million more homes over the course of this parliament and stated that further steps towards this goal will be outlined in the coming months.

Alongside this, the Government have said they are committed to building hundreds of thousands of affordable new homes and this was linked to preventing people from falling into homelessness. The speech also included a positive response to the recent consultation on Shared Ownership referencing the development of a new simpler model.
